Lancaster County has some of the world’s best farmland, rated as the most productive non-irrigated farmland. With fertile soil, ample rainfall, and a 180-day frost-free growing season, this area produces abundant food crops. Our farm is in northeastern Martic Township, an area which has been responsibly farmed for centuries. The terrain here is hilly, owing to its proximity to a large belt of subsurface limestone. Local farms used to kiln the limestone to make their own fertilizer. While the soil here is somewhat rocky, it is quite rich, and even more so when amended with ample compost produced on site.
We’ve been growing hot peppers for over 35 years and are pleased to offer our bounty to your kitchen. We select top quality seeds and start our peppers indoors in late winter. Varieties are selected based on flavor and heat level. While we do grow some superhot types, we believe that there is more to hot peppers than just raw heat, so we look for types that produce a variety of tropical and fruity flavors to spice up any cuisine.
